Re: A question that comes to mind:

well, yes, i am, but i guess that is to be expected. i haven't been
hit with any problems like the sparc control-c bug (sorry we've not
published a fix for that---i've not had much time to work lately),
and, in fact, it's proven quite robust considering its youth, but
i probably do still tread pretty lightly.

as for scripts, i think i like es a lot. the need to use a lot more
braces than in rc (in particular, drumming into my slow head the
fact that i can't just write if{foo}bar bletch, without braces
around the then clause) is a drag, but other than that it feels
pretty good.

anyway, it's been a real disappointment to me that we (mainly i, since
Byron's been doing lots on the usenix paper) haven't been able to make
a new release of the shell. 0.75 should be feature complete and much
more robust, but it's taken longer than i'd expected.

anyway, i recommend playing with es as your main shell---if you like
rc, es should feel very comfortable.
