I agree. "<>" seems like a feature of marginal use, but there seems
to be a number of people who want it for asthetic reasons. However,
this doesn't mean that everything needs its own sugar.
With regard to the sh lookalike competition, is "<>" needed? Ignoring
ksh and bash, how many /bin/sh like shells have "<>"? Certainly /bin/sh
here doesn't on any of the machines I tried.
Also, I like "<>{...}" in its current role.
