everyone's least favorite creatures

what are other peoples' feelings on this?  neither Byron nor i are
happy with the size of es.  what features of the language would you
(everyone on the list) remove?  it's definitely harder to remove
features than to add them once a piece of software has uses, but i
want to see how much is lying fallow.

i'll admit up front that i'll probably reply to a good number of
good suggestions with ``NO! we NEED that!''  treat it as an emotional
author getting hung up on criticism of his pride & joy.  :-)  please
remember that i have a tendency to be too defensive.
