wildcards

I'm trying to pass filename's with wildcards embedded to a program/function.
Here's the jist of it:

fn hehe args {
	echo $args
}

if I type:

es> hehe *

I get a list of files in the current directory. I don't think there's a
way to stop this ... but I just thought I'd check here ...

es> hehe '*'

is the only way I can see, but I'd like to make the command more transparent
than that ..
