Strange es bug

Today I discovered this strange behaviour:

	; fn-a = echo a
	; b = <={$&whatis a} b
	; echo $fn-a
	echo a b

This is on a sun SPARCstation ELC, and es is compiled with gcc.  Do
people get this on other platforms, too?
