That's definitely an issue with me. Its features seem 95% oriented towards
programming, and they're all good features, but in practice I'm not sure
they pay off enough to justify the weight. My understanding was that it's
being worked on, which makes sense - get the functionality worked out, then
do the optimization - but there may have been some basic design features that
will be hard to optimize to make it competitive with rc, for example garbage
collection.

I do too (work in X), but there's clearly no consensus that it's a substitute
for job control. Let's not start that again.
